Letters of James Branch Cabell, 1916-1928.

Cabell primarily discusses his work in these various letters: on 1916 May 3, Dumbarton, Va., he thanks John Mowbray Clarke, New York, N.Y., for a letter of admiration, mentioning how much authors like readers' comments and promising to send a volume. On 1917 October 26, Dumbarton, Va., he sends Glen Walton Blodgett his autograph; on 1921 August 13 to Edward Hale Bierstadt, Cabell acknowledges receiving the carbon manuscript "Literary Sore Toes" from Bierstadt, arguing the location of the towns Lichfield and Fairhaven and referring to his work on proof sheets of "Chivalry" and "The Line of Love." Finally, on 1928 July 27, Cayford Cottage, Mountain Lake, Va., to the Argus Book Shop, Cabell writes of the shop's "proposed map of Poictesme" and approves their plan for publishing it.
